We are currently involved in a project of the Max Planck Society that aims to study the feedback mechanisms of the Eurasian landmass to a changing climate. This project is led by the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena and it is in its initial phase. It is planned to conduct measurements from tall towers of atmospheric mixing ratios and isotopic composition of CO2, CH4, CO, of some other biogeochemically active and of some anthropogenic trace gases. Our group is in charge of the carbon monoxide (CO) measurements. We have been testing a carbon monoxide analyzer in the laboratory and in August 2003 we have moved it to the Ochsenkopf Observatory (eastern Germany) to test it under field conditions and to collect CO data from this tower.
