The Rare-Gas-Mass
Spectrometer "LIANE" |
The LIANE Rare Gas MS has
been designed by MAP. It has recently been upgraded by changing the detection
head. The new sensorhead includes an electrostatic filter (ESF) which makes it
possible to measure 36Ar (by ion-counting) and 40Ar (in a
Faraday-cup) simultaneously. LIANE is currently
used to do noble gas released experiments from meteoritic diamonds and from
artificial (detonation produced) diamonds into which noble gases have been
implanted. It is planned to change the gas-extraction-system so that also
the isotopic composition of nitrogen can be measured.
