Stratospheric-Climate Links with Emphasis on the
Upper Troposphere and Lower Stratosphere (SCOUT-O3):
This integrated EU-FP6 project deals with the European predictive capability
on the evolution of the stratospheric ozone layer and the penetrating UV
radiation at the surface, which depend on the interplay between climate
change and impact of ozone depleting substances. The emphasis is on
understanding processes in the upper troposphere / lower stratosphere (UTLS)
including field campaigns (mostly in tropics). An important aim is to
provide essential advice to the policy makers involved in the Montreal
Protocol.
