Chemistry In the Atmosphere Ocean System (CIAO):
The main goal of this project is to determine the effect of the ocean
biogeochemistry on the atmosphere. In the project an ocean model and a
biogeochemical model of the ocean are coupled in the MESSy framework, and
the air-sea exchange for the most important gases are investigated. New
parametrisations for the photoproduction of tracers in the biogeochemical
model are planned; the air-sea interactions of these tracers and their
effect on the atmospheric chemistry will be studied.
