Welcome to the study of hard rock marine geology. Some of the topics covered this week will be familiar to you, particularly if you have had any introduction at all to geophysics. The reason is that geophysical measurements are much easier to make at sea than are geological observations, so the geologist is forced to use them to build an overall picture of the evolution of the sea floor.
