Study of biosphere-atmosphere interactions with focus on (i) direct release of primary biogenic aerosol (PBA) particles and components like pollen, fungal spores, bacteria, carbohydrates, and proteins to the atmosphere, and (ii) uptake of atmospheric carbon dioxide and nitrogen by microbiotic communities (which consist of bacteria, fungi, algae, lichens, and bryophytes).
